1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Sunday Show collects when you use sundayshow.in, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Sunday Show is the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach us at sundayshow.in@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data — display name, email address, hashed password (or the identifier returned by Google when you use “Continue with Google”), profile photo, chosen language, and any preferences you set (interests, saved locations).
- Content you create — bookmarks, likes, newsletter subscriptions, correction requests, and any messages you send us.
- Device & usage data — IP address, coarse location (city / state derived from IP), device type, browser, referring URL, pages viewed, and time on page. We use this to secure the site, fix bugs, and measure how our journalism is read.
- Cookies & similar technologies — a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in, plus optional analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) which are only set when local law permits.
3. How we use your data
- To operate the site — sign-in, saved stories, likes, feed personalisation.
- To send newsletters you have explicitly subscribed to.
- To detect abuse, prevent fraud, and secure our infrastructure.
- To improve our journalism (aggregated analytics only — never linked back to your name).
- To serve advertising on some pages via Google AdSense.
3a. News content from public APIs (AI-assisted)
The news content on Sunday Show is not personal data about you — it is compiled from publicly available news APIs (GNews, Mediastack and similar) and public news sources, rewritten by an AI assistant into a short, plain-English summary, and then published by our desk. Where the original article is available on the web, we link to it directly so you can read the full story on the publisher’s own website. We keep an internal record of the source URL, publisher name and fetch time for each article; we do not enrich this with any personal reader data. If you are a publisher or copyright owner and want a summary, image or attribution changed or removed, email sundayshow.in@gmail.com with the article URL and we will action the request within 72 working hours.
4. Legal bases
We process personal data on the basis of (a) your consent (newsletter, optional analytics/ads cookies); (b) the performance of a contract (delivering the account features you signed up for); (c) our legitimate interests in running a secure, well-measured news product; and (d) compliance with applicable law.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with vetted service providers who help us operate the site: our cloud database and auth provider, email delivery, error monitoring, Google AdSense (for advertising), and Google Analytics (for measurement). We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Sunday Show or its users.
6. Retention
Account data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account (email us at sundayshow.in@gmail.com), we remove your profile, bookmarks and likes within 30 days. Aggregated analytics that no longer identify you may be retained for historical reporting.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law you have the right to access, correct, export and delete your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights write to sundayshow.in@gmail.com from the email address on your account.
8. Children
Sunday Show is a general-audience news product and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted globally. When we transfer personal data outside India we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and reputable providers that meet international data protection standards.
10. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, row-level security in our database, hashed passwords, least-privilege access for staff, and regular dependency scans. No system is 100% secure — we ask you to keep your password strong and confidential.
